November 29th (Friday): 24 hours of Peace

Come join us for “24 Hours of Peace” at Civic Center Park in Denver, from noon to noon Friday, November 29^th through Saturday, November 30^th. The intent of this event is to demonstrate Coloradoans’ firm commitment both to stopping the war on Iraq and to following the path of nonviolence in resolving conflicts. 
 

The program will include speakers, music, poetry, art, spiritual observances from many traditions, movement building, and lots of time for silent meditation and prayers for peace! All are welcome to attend the entire event or any part. Bring an offering to place on the special Peace Altar and come prepared to express your heart through drawings and /or words on the Peace Art Wall. 
 

A nearby church is available for warming up through the night. Be sure to dress warmly and bring a blanket and something to sit on.

Friday 
 

• Cross-cultural, interfaith opening ceremonies (speakers, music, blessings) noon to 1pm

• Children’s peace activities (songs, crafts, stories) beginning at 1:30

• Poets speak out at 2:30

• Candlelight procession beginning at 4:30 (bring protected candle and/or flashlight)

• Post-procession program beginning at 6:30 (including peace songfest and speakers)

• Raging Grannies at 7:30

• Drumming circle beginning at 9:00

Saturday 
 

• Pre-dawn suhoor (Muslim Ramadan pre-fast meal) at 4:30 am

• All-night vigilers’ sharing circles at 7:30

• Circles of Ten peace process presentation at 8:30

• Inner Peace Yoga at 10:30

• Closing ceremonies (music, poetry, speakers, puppet theatre) beginning at 11 am
