DENVER - A larger than expected crowd
gathered outside the Adams Mark
Hotel to protest President Bush’s policy on Iraq. The president was the
guest of honor inside the hotel at a Republican fundraiser.
An estimated 2,000 protesters chanted “no war for votes” and waived anti
war signs. Many people in the crowd said that they were opposed to what
they called a preemptive strike against Iraq. Some also accused the Bush
Administration of pushing the war for political gain.
“I strongly hope and pray that the innocent life of the Iraqis will not be
put in jeopardy and the American people will not be put through the
indignity of losing their loved ones simply because we need votes,” said
Ibrahim Kazerooni, Colorado Against War in Iraq.
The group believes stable change in Iraq will only take place if Iraqis
themselves work to change the regime.
After lunch, President Bush immediately heads to Arizona for another
fundraiser.
