When planning a date, it’s too easy to fall into the “dinner and a movie” rut that can make your date night seem like all the others.
When first getting to know someone, a memorable date together should provide plenty of opportunities for interaction while catering to the common interests of you and your special someone. The date night you plan needs to stand out in order to set you apart from other potential suitors, so here are a few suggestions that will make your next date stay in the mind of your special someone long after it’s over.
First dates should be “conversation dates” because no matter what you think you know about a person, there is always something new to learn. Movies should be ruled out, unless you know for a fact that your date is a huge movie buff. Dinner is a risk for two reasons:
If you are responsible for organising the date, it’s important to plan activities that your date will like. Think hard about any hints or clues you might have gotten as to what he or she enjoys doing and ,if you must, check out his or her Facebook page to find out their interests. If they love playing baseball, suggest a game of catch in the park, or if you know they are interested in art, take them to a gallery or museum. Planning activities to suit your date’s interests will make it a far more enjoyable and memorable occasion for them.
If you don’t know all of your date’s interests, don’t panic. You can still get a great response by planning a date that is unique. Dates that are out of the ordinary provide plenty of conversation material, and the excitement of doing something different will bond you together. Some great examples include:
The point here is to actually do something together because active dates are always much more memorable.
Minute details can either make or break a date. For example, being on a date where there is a lot of opportunity for conversation is only useful if you are a good listener. Similarly, if you are cooking a meal for your date, it is only complete if you also have appetisers, dessert and wine. You are putting a lot of effort into this date; so don’t skimp on the fine details. Showing up with a fresh bouquet of flowers or a small gift are also classy touches that won’t go unnoticed.
