Americans in Palestinian Village about to be Invaded by the IDF
Internationals record eyewitness accounts, paint picture of massive IDF human rights violations
TEIYBA, PALESTINE (5 kilometers from the Jenin Refugee Camp) – “People have been alive buried under their homes,” said Coloradan Brian Wood, by cell phone. According to eyewitness testimony collected by Wood and other internationals in the villages around Jenin, the Israeli military has conducted a massacre in Jenin Refugee Camp and are attempting to hide and bury the evidence. “We’ve recorded consistent stories,” said Wood, “that show that thousands of people have been rounded up, blindfolded, arrested, interrogated, tortured, and their id cards stamped “Terrorist.” Many Palestinian men have disappeared, many are likely killed by the IDF.
On Friday April 12th, a man named Hashem Natour was under the rubble of his home when he called a friend of his: “Come help us!” Another man said on Saturday, April 13th that he was sure that his family was under the rubble of his home, but was not allowed to approach them, and thus didn’t know if they were dead or alive.
In the Palestinian village of Teiyba, situated along the “green line,” separating Israel from the West Bank, Brian Wood and other international activists have spent three days taking down eyewitness accounts of refugees that have been randomly dropped off by the IDF. Within the last 24 hours the IDF has invaded nearby villages of Al-Yammun and Birqin. Wood believes the village he is in will be next.
“If we are invaded by the IDF,” said an exhausted Wood, “hundreds of already displaced and tortured refugees, will again be kidnapped and the shameful exercise repeated. These people of Jenin are already refugees of 1948, mostly from Haifa, now they’re refugees again. What do you call that? When will the international community hold Israel’s ongoing ethnic cleansing accountable? Does anyone hear the desperate cry of Palestinians?”
Brian Wood and other internationals invite calls from the media. To read more of Brian Wood’s report, go to: http://www.ccmep.org/hotnews2/brian041402.html
